Solomon Kane

I didn't like this movie.
It wasn't interesting, no matter how many twists they put up. The climax was weak, incredibly weak! And the main caracter was just boring to follow!

What's it about? Redemtion... Haven't heard that one before! And there's not really any surprises. One man, Solomon, was a warrior in a time of war. And in the beginning he was greedy and didn't care if his men died as long as he got the gold... NEVER ADRESSED AGAIN! Then he comes into a temple after he escapes from the Devils reaper, you don't see him again. And at this temple he learns the way of God in one year, I might add. But then the priest tells him that his home isn't here. So he must leave the temple to go on a journey and find his true path. So on this path we learn that he doesn't fight other people anymore and he is "a man of peace" and then he comes across a family which accept him even if he was a killer because "God speaks of forgivness". But then the family gets killed except for the little girl who instead gets kidnapped. Solomon tries the peaceful way to get her back and fails so he says "screw you God I'm gonna do things my way and... hopefully you'll like it." The father's lasts words are: "Save my daughter and God will forgive you." So the movie is mostly about Soloman going after the bad guys and getting back the girl.

The story is really boring and really clumsy handled. But since I want to avoid spoilers in the beginning we'll talk about the that last. So let's move on to the main character that was also boring. I've seen this character SO many times and I'm starting to get sick of it. He's just a character that will fight because... The director really wants it! He tries the peaceful matter but he's REALLY not good at it. Ever word that he speak is not belivable. When he tries to speak calmly to a "monster"... Yeah, you can see what's wrong there. It's like talking to a bear who's trying to protect the cubs with you pulling up your arms and say: "Let's just talk about things"... It doesn't work! And there's a bunch of other things like that, it was repeated over and over and I had no idea how this man was thinking and he was REALLY weak minded. One simple thing could destroy him! Weak main character, let's move on!

There wasn't much bad about the movie it was just the story and the villain and the main character, the music.. I didn't hear much of it since I was so bored with everything else. The special effects... They were OK, I've seen better but I've seen worse too. The lightning was Ok, the other characters were OK. Nothing much to say about it really.

Before the spoilers I'm just gonna say: Yes, this movie has like witches and vampires, but it's pretty downplayed. The vampires were really out of place, I don't really know if they were vampires but they looked and acted like the creatures from "I am Legend" so... Feel free to think what you want about that. And the witches... There were one witch in this movie and I have no idea why she was in here. And everyone kept saying that Solomon was a sorcerer but he never did anything magic at all. Just some tatoos that were supposed to protect him from the devil.. I don't know.

Ok! Now spoiler alert! The climax of the movie... Up to here we've seen Solomon gain his faith, lost his faith and now gain it again. I'm gonna tell you more about that before I go to the climax. Solomon is being told that the girl he's supposed to save is dead. So of course he's going to a dark place...... A dark place in a bar! ... In a movie with witches and vampires and the devil... I really didn't expect for any of the characters to be placed in a bar! So he gets really drunk and he keeps saying "there's no point, because she's dead" even though someone is just asking "Are you Solomon Kane?"... We are supposed to LIKE this man! Aren't we? He's the main character! And he fight's the devil and God is supposed to be with him! NO! And also before this, before he was told that the girl was dead, he kept saying that the world isn't a good place to live in, where is God in all this suffering. That doesn't fit his character at all. Even though he doesn't believe in the peaceful way he still believes that God is watching over him and stuff like that... It frustrates me.

So now, the climax, sorry for the delay but I needed to go over some problems with the main character first before I take you to this place. Solomon thinks that he killed his brother, that was his first kill. But then we find out that the masked man who infects people and turns them into slaves is his brother who has a master who the devil is the master for... Yeah. But the twist isn't good because of this reason: Solomon tries to take the peaceful way again, and he fails with that. So he then kills his brother for real this time! ... THAT'S YOU'RE FAMILY!!! YOU SHOULD NEVER KILL YOUR FAMILY NO MATTER HOW EVIL THEY ARE!!!!! ... So that happens! Really quick! So the brothers master called: Malacaid (Don't care about the spelling) then "frees" the devil so that he can come into the human world.... You know the devil in "End of days"? ... This was like that except this time he is a monster. He looks kind of like the Balrog from the Lord of the Rings but with a mind like the cavetroll from the same movie. The devil gets stuck between two pillars! He can't see Solomon when he hides behind a pillar and he's REALLY slow so Solomon pretty much WALKS away from a blow! ... So Solomon shoots Malacaid in the head and then God banishes the Devil back to hell and Solomon gets his salvation. ... ........ Solmon killed hunders of innocent people though they were just infected by his brothers sickness, he killed his father, he killed his brother... but he shot Malacaid in the head and saved the little girl! That's all that counts! ... NO! NO! NO!!! no! .. no... NEVER

I did NOT like this movie, there's nothing in it that I liked! .. I don't recommend it. no...

Rise of the Guardians

Incredible Movie!
Disney has disappointed me, as you all know if you read my blog... DreamWorks on the other hand... They continue to amaze me and never disappoint! ... Except for Bee Movie... And Kung Fu Panda 2... Other than that! They're great!

Anyway! Rise of the Guardians! It's about believe and hope and all that good stuff in kids movies. Every kid believes in the easterbunny, the toothfairy, Santa Claus and Sandman! But nobody believes in the Boogyman. So the Boogyman wants to proove to the kids that he's real. But to do that he needs to take away their hope first. Can't be afraid if you're hopeful. So one by one the kids start to doubt the Guardians and get more afraid for each day. And if you don't believe in the holidays... they disappear.

Ok, negatives! ... There's only one negative element that I can remember... And that's the ending. So we're gonna take that last. So what I'm gonna talk about now is some good parts and this movie had a lot.

First off the design. The animation in this movie is GORGEOUS!! It blew me away, not as much as Legend of the Guardians.... But still some great animation! And the angles, the shadows and the design for everything is great! I love the hair and the sandmans.. sand! It was just great to look at and they kept building it! At first it was grand with some nice colors and some animals that the kids were dreaming about and they kept building it to the larges animal in history! It was just beautiful and amazing. It was a nice movie to look at and I'm so pissed I didn't get to see it in the cinema.. Sweden, they only showed it in swedish... Oh well!

Then we have the characters and they were great! I remember every character that was in this movie (I think, most of them anyway) and that's hard to do. I can't even pick favourite character because everyone was unique in their own way and likeable in their own way! And yes, everyonw stayed true to their character... You should know what that means by now. I think I've explained it in every blog post here!

The story.. I didn't expect this story when I saw the trailer and the poster, even if it was kind of predictable.. And let me tell you, I follow DreamWorks on their FaceBook and.. I was hyped to see this movie! I waited for it to come to Sweden days after it aired in America! ... And then it only came in swedish and... I have to hear Jude Law as the Boogyman! And Alec Baldwin as Santa! So I had to wait until it came on Blu-ray... Damn that I missed it on the cinema... Oh well! Liked the story exept for the ending that was weak!

The jokes... I don't really like when the whole movie is all jokes.. I didn't like Pirates of the Caribbean 2 because of that and many other Disney movies because they make it all about jokes. This movie kind of does that too.. In the middle of the battle they can throw in a joke or before the villain is supposed to be threatning they throw in a joke. At one point it flew me off, first I was laughing but I cut the laugh because right after the villain was doing his thing. So that's not really good.... But I think I laughed at every joke they put in. I have no idea how they did it, but I was just a little bothered by the jokes, not by much and to do that... that's good job. I guess something with the story and the characters... It worked! So yeah, good job!

And the music... I want to listen to this music seperatly because I heard some good tunes, but I couldn't concentrate on the music because everything else was so awesome! So it caught my ear and I wanna hear more about it. It worked perfectly with the movie for the mood setting though and everything like that so.. Well done on that part too!

Now! Finally we get to the negative stuff... The ending, well.. I guess I'm just saying that it's a little weak. Not that I didn't like it but for everything else to be so amazing and they kept building it up and everything like that... It was a pretty weak ending. Maybe it would've worked if the guardians decide not to cast of the boogyman but they're saying that they need him to help kids with the hope. Without fear you can't have hopes, something like that, and maybe after that the kids can finally see him even though they're not so scared of him anymore, give him some happy ending too instead of the whole "you're evil so we don't want you here!", that's been done in every fairy tale. They tried to give him depth with the same story as Jack Frost, but they didn't quite get that right... So that was a little weak, but yeah.. What are you gonna do?

So that's it! I really liked this movie, and I'm definitly gonna see it again and again and again and again... and listen to the soundtrack while I'm waiting for the next DreamWorks movie to come to Sweden IN ENGLISH! .. Thank you for reading! See this movie!

Ink

I liked it!
I'm not sure why all these things happened, but even so, I liked it!

So, OK, I'm gonna try my best to summon what the movie is about. This movie doesn't explain much, if anything at all but I think it's about a reunion between a father and his daughter. After his wife's death , John was find unfit to take care of his own daughter due to some drug problems and alcohol. The girl named Emma is now living with her grandparents and one day she has a seizure and is taken into the hospital. Even so, the father feels betrayed by the law and the grandparents so he doesn't visit his daughter. What they don't know is that the daughter actually was taken by Ink, a creature that can walk through worlds. In one of these worlds lives other creatures that can control humans dreams, either give them a pleasant dream, or nightmares. The creatures that gives out pleasant dreams needs to save Emma and bring her back to the human world before the creatures that gives out nightmares does something... But only John has the ability to wake her up. So the pleasant dream givers has to take John to Emma in the hospital and protect him from the nightmare givers.

I don't really know why they need Emma or John, they don't really explain that well. I think the most important thing was the relationship between Emma and John so they concentrated on that. But it's good. You can see Johns pain and confusion, he doesn't really know what to feel so he becomes angry, and they show that really good. Ehum... But yeah! The only negative thing is that you don't really know the goal of the bad guys in the movie so it fails a little in that.

At first I thought the edeting was really bad but then it became a style and a dance between the camera, the caracters and the story. So it's stylish when the edeting goes by very fast, when it needs to be slow, it's slow, in a fighting scene it jumps around a lot. They knew how to work it though and I was never annoyed by the camera movement.

And second thing I thought was bad but then turned out stylish was the lighting. There was expaned lightning and it looked really weird, but then I noticed... It's to show the different worlds. The creatures that give dreams, they are in the human world but they can't interact with the humans, so everytime the camera is on them the lighting is a little brighter and when it's on the humans it looks normal. Another plus went up when I discovered that, it's actually kind of clever. And then when the bad guys appeared it turned green and they really knew what they were doing with the light so... GOOD FOR YOU!

The music is kept in the background and I LOVED that. It felt like the music was shy, it wanted to do something grand but someone was keep telling it to stay in the background and... Damn that was a good decision. I don't like it when the music takes over when it's not a musical and you can't really hear the actors because the music is SO LOUD! But here, it let the actors and the camera do the work. It was just there so it wouldn't be silent. And don't get me wrong, there were some silent moment of course! But yeah! I liked it! More plus!

The actors in this movie did a GREAT job with portraying every caracter they were supposed to be. The design of everything was just perfect, and I'm talking about the clothes the hair and... beard. It was just perfect! Fit every caracter and the child did a great job of portraying, scared, angry, happy, determind... It was great seeing this child. So yeah.. Actors great job!

Now, the caracters... I found three caracters that I loved in this movie. Three caracters in ONE movie that was my favorite... And they didn't disappoint! That's pretty amazing! So yeah, you can pretty much guess that everyone kept their caracter through the movie, the comedy was the comedy and concistant! I loved that, the warrior was a warrior and Emma was still a child even though she became braver and stuff like that. I hate it when the child stops being a child just because she's brave... You know what I mean, hopefully. So yeah, great caracters, great actors... where can you go wrong?

This movie has only one negative thing that I can think of and a million things that are great! So, I recommend this movie and see what you get out of it! I'm definitly seeing this movie again! And I so want to see behind the scenes to see what they really wanted to get across and how much fun they had making this movie!

Yeah! So, see you next time! GO SEE INK!

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas

This was a very emotional movie. The people who worked on this knew what they were doing. They knew what they wanted to get across and they did it wonderful. They thought about everything and... Yeah, this is a great movie!

The movie is taking place during the world war two, yeah, how many of those haven't we seen yet? And it's about a child... Wait what? That's right! This is a movie about world war two from a childs perspective! And it's perfectly done! It picks a serious tone and keeps it through the whole movie, even if the characters are having fun and laughing the movie is still serious.
So the movie starts with showing the main character, Bruno, who's eight years old, playing with his friends. They're just having fun like childrens do, without a caring in the world. Then Bruno comes home and notices that some soldiers are moving out their furniture. His father tells him that they're going to move to the country since he got a job offer, a promotion. And oh, his father is a soldier. Anyway! So Bruno is leaving his home and all his friends to a house which he can't leave. He can only play in the front yard or in the house and also, he's not going to school, so where are all these new friends his father was speaking of? This movie, really shows the emotion Bruno is feeling, the lonliness and boredom of being on your own in a strange house you can't really explore. But one day his boredom takes over and he goes to the back and further into the forest. There he comes across a farm where strange people are living, they all wear blue striped pyjamases and an electric fence is surrounding the farm... He befriends a small boy there and yes, he finally has a friend in his new home. He also has a older sister who finds the soldier men interessting and she takes in everything she reads in the newspapers and the home tutor who's only teaching them history... she likes going to school now. She grows up with thinking what her wants her to think, but Bruno is only thinking about his friend in the striped pyjamas...

... I love this story! It's perfect! First I thought that it was going to be that they grow up and Bruno is going to hate his friend and bla bla bla... But.. No. They're keeping him at age eight through the entire movie and I loved that! It was a whole new experience and it kept my interest all the way through.

Good parts? Everything!
All the actors are doing a great job in this! I believed everything they were saying and doing! No character overstepped their personality or anything, every character held to their... well.. character. So that was really great! What I mean about this is, you know where a character can seem unsuportive or angry through the entire movie and at one point it can turn and that character says a line that is REALLY suportive? And the one who's positive and happy can suddenly be REALLY angry and stuff like that? The one who's usually calm is the first one to get a mental breakdown? I hope you know what I'm talking about... But that doesn't accur in this movie. Every character stays in their character and I'm SO happy for that!

The edeting and the shots are beautiful in this! Especially the shots! I loved the shots, because they really thought about how a scene should look, how to edit and how to aim the chamera through a scene. It's a really good looking movie and more than once I thought how perfectly shot the scene was. It helps set the mood so... WELL DONE!!

The music is also well handed! They used the music very calmly to a beginning, it keeps it in the background and just let's the characters do the mood and of course the camera work. But what they really did was building up the drama to the ending and then the music really builds to a clichendo and then... silence. Very nicely done! As I said, they thought about everything in this movie!

They really got across the relationships well here too. Between the mother and the father is really dramatic, but again, it's through a child's eyes. And Bruno between his sister is great, the sister is also played well and everything she says.. Yeah, everything is great. So I'm just gonna say every relationship is played and written well in this movie.

Yeah! ... I gotta name something I didn't like right? Well, there was only ONE thing I didn't really like, but it didn't really take me of the moment so it didn't spoil everything. I'm jusr gonna say: SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER but yeah well, there was one reaction that I didn't think they were keeping in mind and that was, well, Bruno's grandmother dies after a bombattack to their house and Bruno doesn't really seem to care after the funeral. He just thinks of the funeral not at the fact that his grandmother just died.. I don't even think that he cries! And.. A eightyear old boy who loses his grandmother, they seemed pretty close... shouldn't he cry? That was disturbing but other than that... I can't think of another thing I didn't like.

So yeah, I recomend this movie! See it with your family, it deserves to be seen by everybody! It's a REALLY sad ending though so... Be aware of your teary eyes. Until next time! See you! Thanks for continue reading even though my "break" through in December and half of November!

LOL

It's a New year! And as promised, you're gonna get a new review from me! Happy new year everybody! Now let's begin this year with a movie that I .........

I really really really did NOT like this movie. I didn't even watch the last minutes! I knew how it was going to end and I was sick of waiting for the end credits! It was so boring and... yeah.. It was a mess and the best way to tell you on how much it was a mess I'm gonna tell you the story, but it's a lot of spoilers this time so I'm just saying: skip my explaining of the plot and hop to the other section, no spoilers there.

So OK! The story then: This movie have the same problem as Love Actually. It throws in a lot of characters and it wants you to follow everyone! But this movie however, have no idea how to do work with atmosphere or characters what so ever! So here's what it's trying to throw at you all at the same time: First: The main character, Lola, finds out her boyfriend, Chad, cheated on her. After that she's getting closer and closer to her friend Kyle (a guy), but between that her mother, Anne, is dating her ex husband again, Lola's dad. So Lola is bothered by that for one scene. Also her friend, Emily, is in love with the teacher and is always trying to get a date with him. So Lola and Kyle get together during a party, and after that Anne is meeting up with a detictive that is flirting with her, and Emily is in a chatroom where she meets an annoying guy in school and she's starting to fall for him (anonymus chatroom). So Lola and Kyle hooks up, but then Lola thinks he's cheating on her too after a missunderstanding, but it was really Emily and that annoying guy she heard in the bathroom. So Lola tries to apologize to Kyle but his dad has taken his phone and computer because..... he's a jackass. But during a schooltrip to Paris Kyle and Lola hooks up again, Emily comes out that she's dating that annoying guy and Anne is hooking up with that detective. Oh! But all is not well! Because when Lola gets home from Paris her mother is reading Lolas diary (here it's only 15 minutes left on the movie) and Lola is calling her mother bitch for reading her diary and spends the days at her dads. But soon she and her mother is friends again and Kyle and her dad makes up too.... THE END!!! ... You see what I mean? You see why I don't like this movie? Who would ever think all of that would make ONE GOOD movie?!

I didn't connect with these characters at all. It was like they were following a script, a straight line through the whole movie! The actors were trying their best, but the direction, editing and writing were horrible! If we're not connecting with the characters we won't connect to the message they're trying to get across.

And yeah, I mentioned before that the pacing and atmosphere were really bad... I'll say: Try to find a scene that lasts more than 15 minutes! It's really hard! The scenes just throws by! I think it's just "We'll show you what's important with this scene and... that's all you need!" Because of this, the relationships between the characters doesn't matter because they just want the message of  "be yourself!" to get across, and it doesn't -.- We need to follow the characters and if you don't care about those, we don't care about them! So what they say is completely useless!

Yeah! ... Now I'm tired... I've said the important stuff and now the movie is over... Screw you guys! I'm going home!

Have a great 2013!! Bye!

Merry Christmas!

Hi, everybody that are reading this!

This is just gonna be a BIG apology post so I'm just gonna say it right now before I type like crazy... I'm SO sorry I haven't posted any reviews lately. I know I'm supposed to have one for November and December but.... I'm gonna tell you why in short. Just, you're not going to get any reviews until hopefully January, most likely January, so it's just for December because....

I have reached a mental break, I had a bit of a personal chrisis that broke me down compeletly so I'm trying to recover from that. And also, it's christmas so I'm a bit busy with other projects and presents for the family and friends and.. yeah, it's been really busy for me with everything that has popped up these mothns so, I'm trying to recover from everything.

And yeah, I mentioned I had other projects, and I do. Nothing is settled yet, but hopefully I'm gonna start on a photostory all by myself so that's time consuming and takes a lot of energy and due to the personal chrisis I don't have that much energy as I used to so I just haven't gotten around to watching movies or anything really.

So that's what's going on and now you know why I haven't posted anything here in a while. But I'll be here soon enough, I'm hoping and typing like crazy so... Hopefully I'll see you again in January! Take care and as the title says: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! HUGS TO EVERYONE that are following me here on this blog!

The Secret of Moonacre

Honestly.... I liked it! Probably more than liked it. I saw the trailer for this one before I watched it and I thought I was going to dislike it. But the movie hooked me in pretty early and it just became better and better... Except for the ending, but that could have been A LOT worse! So good on you movie!

The story... It's a little confusing on where everything takes place, but I think it takes place in ancient time in a world where magic excists, not in a magic world. First I thought it was going to be like Narnia from watching the trailer, a girl comes to a house and find a door to another world.... It's not. After her father dies she moves in with her uncle who is very rude to her, but still says that she belongs there. Confused she tries to find someone else in the house to talk to that hopefully isn't rude to her and can explain some weird things that are going on in the house. She finds a weird man, wizard, that tells her that the house and the land around it is cursed and only one girl can save it. She is that one girl.

What I liked about it is the characters. Some of you might say that they are bland and boring but I, who have seen characters that doesn't stay true to themselves, say that these characters are better than a lot better than those we see today. For one: they never break their character. If a character is brave, it's brave. If the character is the comic relief, it is. And if the character is a broody man who is rude, he is like that for the majority of the movie until the ending where he of course learns the lesson. I really liked that and that's what I'm talking about when I'm mentioning the characters in this blog. They need to stay true to... Yeah, you get the idea.

The other thing I liked was the story. It's a pretty simple one, but it doesn't really follow the old clichés. For one SPOILERS SPOILERS the thing that breaks the curse isn't love. The thing that creates the curse isn't just because people hate each other because of one thing that happened millions of years ago.  I thought this was very refreshing, yes it happens more often that love doesn't save the day, but it was the "evil" part that this movie did great. Not the hero part... If you get my meaning. So that's what I really liked with the story.

NO SPOILERS HERE: Then there were these other things that I liked about the movie, like the music, the clothes, the setting, the lighting(they really thought about it!), the make up and small stuff like that. The majority of this movie I really liked, but the big things are the characters and the story so... Moving on to what I didn't like.

I didn't like the special effects for this one. Sure it looks nice, but at times it looks SO fake! But if you can overlook those things, that's just a minor problem and it just appears with two animals that they were using. Also I have to tell you they are using both a real dog and mix it with CGI so, there you have it! They were just half lazy.

And yeah, the ending was a little messy with everything, I think they didn't want to do the cliché but at the same time fool the audience that they were going to do the cliché so... It wasn't really clear on that part and I didn't really like SPOILER SPOILER that the little girl could save the day by herself. In the end everyone is gathered in the same spot and they're trying to break the curse. At first the little girl is trying to get everyone to apologize for their mistakes, but nobody wants to. So she then tries to do it herself and it works... I did not like that. Even though it was done with some thought in it, but yeah... Not enough I must say. Still, it kind of works.

And that's all I'm going to say about it! I recomend it. It was a fun watch and I found many characters I liked and loved to follow them on their journey and see them progress forward so... Yeah. It was a good movie! I will definitely see this movie again!
