To think that the first movie I write about here is someone I didn't like -.-
I think I expected more than I got... And I didn't expect much! I can say this: I didn't know what the hell was going on. And I don't feel like I got an explanation. Never in the whole movie did they explain what was going on. You had to guess it all! It felt like they were laying a puzzle before you with 1000 pieces and said: “Here! Solve this!” I mean... That doesn't work for me. It's ok if it where like a detective movie or what you call those, because even with those you get an explanation afterwards.. A motive, some back story and stuff like that. That can be interesting even if I'm no fan of those... But this movie plaid it out that you had to solve the puzzle you self. It gives you all the pieces, but they forgot the motive. That really bugged me... And.. They saved all the given explanations to the end of the movie... So for one hour you go like “What? Why? How? Huh?!” And when you finally get SOME answers you still have some more questions that's rolling in your head. And before you know it... They show you the end credits... That really pissed me off.
The movie starts with the ending (Sometimes that works, but some people can't handle it that good) And directly after that I had some questions... “Is this before or after the movie?” But I let that question go as I guessed that I would found it out later. Then the main character says that God created the world in seven days. Another question popped into my head.. “Didn't God create the world in six days and on the seventh day he rested? That's why Sunday is a day off?” So that bugged me in ten minutes... And another thing that bugged me shortly after that... There was this one cameraman that couldn't hold the camera still. In some shots that works, but not when people are just talking to each other! I've seen that mistake (to me it's a mistake) in many new movies actually and that always bugs me somehow. Sometimes I can ignore it if the rest of the movie is good, but even if this movie was good that scene would still drive me crazy. The camera was shaking like someone was running with it! You know that old people (Sorry) are shaking very much? I'm not saying that all old people do that, but I've forgotten what that certain sickness is called right now, but I hope you get the idea. The camera was shaking like someone like that hold it! Wouldn't that bug you too?
There was also another thing I noticed.. The edit was terrible! There was this one shot on the two characters from the above and they held it for 5 seconds! The shot didn't look good, it wasn't necessary and it destroyed the scene. It irritated me. Also there was this one shot in a car and they held the camera really wrong so the character's eyes got cut off until someone told her to lean forward so she'll be in the picture... WHAT THE HELL?! Move the camera man a little to the right and the shot would work! That did not work! There was a lot of those scenes!
SPOILER
Ok, now I'm gonna talk about the story... It would've been a good story if they did it right! The main character's name is Ben Thompson... Or is it? I don't know! It just came out of nowhere! We follow Ben(?) and sees that he helps people who deserves it... Why? I don't know! That also came out of nowhere! Ben is troubled. Why? I think it's because he was too worked up in his work more than the woman he loved. I found that out when it was just ten minutes left on the movie! Before that it was only clips on him doing God knows what. But I think he thinks that he is responsible for her death. They were driving and he got a text message and decided to answer on it real quick, this would've been great message to tell everyone to knock off they're phone while driving... Too bad they only show it for five seconds and after that everything happened too fast so you can't really follow that! People can't usually see what's in front of their eyes so you have to wave it better in front of them! Well you can probably guess what's happening next... You think he'll drive off the road? Wrong! You think he'll crash into another car? Wrong! He ducks (Can't come up with a better word right now) and slides off the road and the other car, a truck, is flying over the road and rolling over so that Those people die too... At least I think they do, I don't really know that much about what happens to them though they never explain that either.. What do you think happens after that? He'll wake up on a hospital? No... He wakes up in the car watching his wife dead? No... He walks towards the car and then kneels beside his wife who lies on the ground.... When did he got out from the car? Why isn't he dead like his wife? What happened?! .. they don't explain it.
Also I said that I don't really know what his name is... Here's why: He has a brother.. In one scene he confront the main character and says “Tim”... Ok.. After that he says “Get me my ID” Ok.. Did he steal his identity? In that case why? But there's more! After that Ben or Tim is saying again and again that he'll explain the next day. Only he can get to the house and talk to his date.. The brother says “No! Give me the car keys, I'm not going anywhere!” Ben or Tim says Ok, goes inside.. Tries to say to his date that he needs to go.. She doesn't want him to leave and convinces him with a kiss on the cheek. After that they have sex..... HIS BROTHER IS OUTSIDE WAITING!!! He even said that he would drag Ben or Tim out of there if he didn't came out! But the movie never stops surprise you! The brother doesn't come up. In the same scene they have some more clips that made me confused on which timezone I was in, but that wasn't that important. Ben or Tim gets out of the house and I thought the brother would confront him again to have that talk he had been nagging about... He is not there. In this point I loudly sighed at the movie and stopped caring! I thought I was going to be given the answers at the end so I stopped puzzling in the middle of it and waited for the end (Just so you know.. That's NOT good!) and yeah...
SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER!
Ben or Tim kills himself I think I know why, but... I'm not really sure.. And after that he donates his heart to his dying date that he had sex with when his brother was NOT waiting outside. Ok, that's kind and I liked that part, but it could've been done better! After she wakes up and he is dead she gets a talk with Ben or Tims brother.. He says that Ben or Tim had donated a lot of organs to people. He also said a bunch of other stuff that I didn't quite catch.. Something about a lightning or... I don't know! It just made me confused and made me think about how Zeus must've had a REALLY bad day! I guess he was someone who donated organs to people or something like that but you don't really get an explanation. The movie ends there... Kind of.
I wanted to see something that Will Smith made in I, Robot... An explanation on WHY he hated the robots! Just him talking to the girl he liked.. No! We don't get any of that! He just shuts himself up and never talks about himself...... GRRRR!!!! I still have some questions that needs answers! Where did this organs donating mania come from?! Before his wife death he was busy with work! So when did he start donate? WHY?! Something like that is a REAL big deal and a person doesn't just wake up one morning and says “I'm gonna kill myself today and donate my organs to those who deserves it!” … NO! That has to come from somewhere! And I wanna know why! If this movie was done correctly, put some more thought around the big stuff it could've been real touching. It could've made me cry.. But instead it made me sigh loudly! SIGH!
No! Sorry, but I did not think this move was good! Will Smith is great and I love him, but... He can't make a movie great by himself.. He really can't.
